The Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the National Polytechnic School (FIEE-EPN) inaugurated on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the XXXI Electrical and Electronic Engineering Conference (JIEE), an annual event that brings together students, professors, researchers, and professionals from across the country.

At the inauguration ceremony, FIEE's Dean, Ph.D. Martha Cecilia Paredes, highlighted the importance of the JIEE as a space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, as well as for the development of research and innovation in the field of electrical and electronic engineering. During the JIEE, held between November 29th and December 1st, keynote speeches, exhibitions, workshops, and other events addressing topics related to electrical engineering, electronics and automation, telecommunications, and information technologies.

The event will feature the participation of prominent national and international academics and professionals who will address current topics such as clean energy, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and cybersecurity. The JIEE is an initiative by FIEE-EPN aimed at promoting the development of electrical and electronic engineering in Ecuador and contributing to the training of highly skilled professionals to tackle the challenges presented by the industry.

    SECOND DAY AND  BUSSINESS FAIR

The second day of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Conference was truly outstanding. The presentation on Electronic Add-ons immersed us fully into the cutting-edge advancements related to the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G technology. This forward-looking vision clearly and excitingly projected the future direction of connectivity, leaving all attendees amazed.

From Portugal, Dr. Jorge Sá Silva contributed with a fascinating perspective by questioning the role played by the human factor in the unstoppable evolution of the Internet. His lecture sparked an intense debate that led us to reflect on how we interact with the network and how this interaction shapes its development.

On the other hand, from the United States, Dr. Sean Warnick took us on a discovery journey by exploring the power and potential of Idea Labs. His presentation compellingly demonstrated how these laboratories serve as genuine engines of innovation, triggering significant and revolutionary changes in the world of electrical and electronic engineering.

The richness of shared knowledge in these events has been exceptional, providing us with inspiration and valuable perspectives to tackle future challenges and opportunities in these fields.

The BUSINESS FAIR held during the 3 days of the XXXI JIEE 2023 saw extensive participation from CIEEPI (CO-ORGANIZER), whose stand emphasized the importance of belonging to a professional guild. The DYCOMTEL Group captured participants' attention by showcasing their GPON network products and generated excitement through their activities, contests, and prizes.

Complementos Electrónicos invited participants to explore cutting-edge equipment for measuring and simulating phenomena related to Telecommunications. Meanwhile, AV. CORP delved into electronic recycling and the Circular Economy, showcasing significant projects based on electronic waste.

DIGITEC S.A shared its solutions and measurement equipment in the field of telecommunications and satellite solutions. Finally, thanks are extended to the Cooperativa Politécnica for sponsoring the event.

      CLOSING CEREMONY

There were 24 Scientific Papers and 23 Outreach Articles presented, along with 6 Keynote Lectures and 6 Business Conferences. On average, there were around 300 participants each day during the Conference. During the closing ceremony, a raffle was held among all participants who registered their attendance at the event. The draw included 3 Wireless Routers (donated by DYCOMTEL Group) and 1 2-channel Digital Oscilloscope (donated by Complementos Electrónicos). Winners were selected using a lucky wheel, with the condition that the winner must be physically present at the closing ceremony to claim the prize. Therefore, 13 people were selected as winners.
However, only 4 were present and became winners of the prizes. The list of the winners is presented below:

      1. ÁVILA JHOSTIN (1st Router)

      2. VASCO JOSELIN (2nd Router)

      3. MAYORGA BRYAN (3rd Router)

      4. LOZADA CARLOS (Osciloscope).
